Thermal sensitivity testing is a fundamental tool in pain and neuroscience research. BioMed Hot Cold Plate empowers labs to conduct standard hot plate tests, thermal hyperalgesia assessments, and cold allodynia studies, acting as the gold standard test for thermal pain tests in rodents and acts as an effective screening tool intervention of analgesia.
Whether evaluating acute pain thresholds or long-term sensory behavior, the hot cold plate captures real-time behavioral response data, including paw withdrawal, licking, or jumping, with millisecond time precision. A high-resolution capacitive LCD screen, USB data export, and PC compatibility make it an efficient and flexible solution for both standalone and integrated application in thermal pain studies.
Hot Cold Plate, also call Analgesia Meter, is a precision-engineered device for evaluating thermal pain thresholds, thermal hyperalgesia, and cold/heat allodynia in rodents. Temperature range goes from -5°C to 65°C. The Hot Cold Plate adopts precise PID control algorithm, which is different from the temperature breakpoint method adopted by ordinary temperature controllers. The PID algorithm will continuously collect temperature feedback to control heating/cooling, thus being able to control the current temperature more accurately.
The Hot Cold Plate contains a metal temperature plate with a digital display and a lidded transparent glass cylindrical restrainer.
Application: Neuropathic pain, inflammatory pain, hot and cold allodynia and hyperalgesia etc.

Q: What is the difference between this Hot/Cold Plate and a traditional hot plate?
Our Hot cold plate allows both heating and cooling with precision (down to -5°C), whereas traditional hot plates only heat and lack dual-zone testing or precise PID control.
Q. Can I use this for cold allodynia or thermal place preference experiments?
Absolutely. The wide temperature range and precision control make it ideal for cold allodynia and thermal preference studies in behavioral neuroscience.
Q. How do I retrieve the test data?
All data can be easily extracted via USB in CSV format, ready for Excel or statistical analysis software.
Q. Is PC software required in operating the hot cold plate?
Our hot cold plate operates independently via the built-in touch screen. And we also provide the software in PC labs that prefer remote control and analysis.
